250th Celebration Week

Celebrating 250 years of Independence. Multiple events will be taking place throughout the week. 

July 5th - 12:30 Village Cemetery tour with Cecilia Elwert - parking at the Town Office or Robinson School

July 5th - 2pm Period Sermon and the religious history at the time of the revolution in Vermont by Mike Blakeslee at the Village meeting house, snacks and refreshments afterwards


Friday, July 10th- Evening 6-9pm at Thacher & Olivia Hurd’s Barn – Rublee Rd, off Mason Hill S. 

7pm Barn Dancing with Band (The Town Hollers ) – Lausanne Allen 802-453-2199 

will have table with water and refreshments - Please bring your lawn chair for seating


Saturday, July 11th - 11am – 2pm – Cota Field *Rain date on Sunday* July 12th 

Games and Sack races - need volunteer for organizing & managing of kid's games

11-1pm, Sharp equipment Antique farm equipment demo – Dan Baker   

  • Dan will bring antique equipment – labeled and with info, potato hiller, plow,  

11am Hand mowing – Tony Parent, Sawyer Cunningham, Mark Shaddock, Eric Hansen (?) (Dan and Rich will contact)  

Location is up against Lewis Creek southwest of the Pavilion

11-12pm -- Horse drawn wagon rides with Dave Russell 

1pm TOWN PHOTO – Original Starksboro sign will be used   

As interested - Galen will demonstrate shingling – cutting slate, tapping copper nails, items to buy or receive after donating  

12-2pm - Fiber Frolick – under the pavilion Lausanne Allen & Twist O'Wool Guild & Strands ( a local group of portable weavers) and a local 4-H group

12pm - Food by donation under pavilion on north side, grill outside of pavilion

  • Brisket on slider rolls (crock pot) & Burgers & Veggie Burgers 
  • Potatoes 
  • Salad 
  • Side of baked beans (without pork) 
  • Water & Lemonade 
  • Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream

 A Time Capsule holding a collection of small personal and community items will be buried on town property for 10 years. The deadline for submission of items is end of July. Items for placement in the capsule must be small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. These can be dropped off at the Town Clerk's Office
