Schoolhouse Fire Station #2 Project

Jerusalem Community Center & Fire Station Project

The Town of Starksboro is dedicated to enhancing public safety and community engagement through the renovation of the historic Jerusalem Schoolhouse and the construction of a new Starksboro Fire Station #2. Located at 397 Jerusalem Road, the site currently houses a one-room schoolhouse built in 1874 and a small, deteriorating fire station addition from the 1970s.

This project will transform the Jerusalem Schoolhouse into a fully accessible, year-round community center, preserving its historic charm while updating heating, plumbing, and accessibility features. The new fire station will be a stand-alone, two-bay facility, ensuring improved emergency response times and increased mutual aid capabilities for the 1,700 residents of Starksboro and surrounding towns.

These long-awaited updates will provide a safe, welcoming space for town meetings, events, and emergency shelter needs while also securing critical fire protection for South Starksboro. With strong community support and necessary approvals in place, the Town is actively seeking funding to bring this vision to life.
